DESCRIPTION:
DYNA3D is a finite element analysis program developed by ????.
This module interprets the ASCII input file for this program and
generates GEOM representations of the desired aspects of the data
sets. The controls are:

READ FILE:	a browser which lets you specify the name of the ASCII
	input file

WRITE BIN FILE:	a browser which lets you specify the file name of a
binary output file based on your current display choices

DEFORMED:	is a toggle which activates the "def factor" dial
DEF FACTOR:	is a scale factor applied to the deformation.

SHRINK: is a toggle which activates the "shrink factor" dial
SHRINK FACTOR:	is a percentage scaling on how far to shrink each
		cell

GROUP: is a toggle which activates the specification of a
group through the "group spec" typein
GROUP SPEC:	a character string typein for specifying the active
		group

LABEL: toggles the labelling of nodes

STATE: a toggle which activates the selection of states

CONTOUR:	a toggle which activates and selects the type of
parameter to generate color contour fringes for.

The dyna3d module in the IAC was written originally for a Stellar GS-1000,
so makes assumptions about that machines specific characteristics of
fortran to c calling conventions. In addition, it only outputs
Geometry data type, so hardly any AVS modules can be used to
process it, only viewing. Thirdly, it was written to accept a
data format produced by an early version of LS-Dyna, as modified by
Halquist, for the purpose, and is unlikely to work with most public domain
versions of Dyna3D.

AVS Inc have a Dyna3D reader module that produces UCD data types and
reads a more standard Dyna dump file format, d3plot file,
is portable, but is not on the price list.

A Fully supported DYNA3D interface is available from
SciViz, Scientific Visualization Assoc.
called SciViz REV for structures. Phone Steve Weinberger, on
